VISION

The Mission of St. Mary Star of the Sea School is to offer a value-oriented curriculum based upon Catholic principles that meets the challenges of the future.

St. Mary Star of the Sea School engages in the formation of an active Catholic Community. We recognized that the educational process is accomplished in cooperation with the parents who are the primary educators and first role models. Their cooperative efforts, support, and assistance enhance the lifelong learning process. Our environment provides Religious, Academic, and Social components.

The Religious component nurtures a strong Catholic faith life by:
          •   Fostering a personal relationship with God
          •   Teaching Catholic beliefs and traditions
          •   Encouraging prayer in all forms
          •   Preparing students for the Sacraments
          •   Developing skills for liturgical preparation
          •   Promoting active participation

The Academic Component provides:
     An exposure to academic concepts, topics and skills
     Opportunities to develop decision making skills and to think independently
     Training in skills:
          To compute practical mathematical problems essential for living
          To communicate effectively orally and in writing
          To deal effectively with a wide range of persons
          To utilize and conserve natural resources and the environment
          To promote wellness for a healthy mind, body, and spirit
          To encourage self-expression through the arts

The Social Component promotes:
Involvement in school, parish, and community service and activities that instill a sense of belonging and responsibility.

A safe, secure atmosphere of caring for maximum learning and development

Mission programs and curriculum that provide an awareness of community and global concerns including the needs for the less fortunate

Respect for self and others

Recognition of the uniqueness of each person in the school community as an enhancement of self-worth

Opportunities to share and develop individual talents

The Graduates of St. Mary Star of the Sea School have developed a respect and reverence for their own self-worth, talents, and abilities.  They value continued and expanding educational pursuits and have mastered a body of knowledge that will aid them in a life-long process of spiritual, emotional, social, cultural, and academic growth. Because of the development of appropriate reading, writing, thinking, speaking, fine arts, computing and technological skills, the Graduates have learned to adapt to new conditions in our rapidly changing world.

The Graduates of St. Mary Star of the Sea School are committed to responsible Catholic behavior and to an active participatory role in the Catholic community and in today's society.  They are persons of faith, rooted in Gospel values, who are sensitive to cultural diversity, as well as, the needs and rights of others, especially those who are less fortunate.
