St. Mary Star of the Sea School is operated under the auspices of the Catholic Bishop of Chicago, a corporation sole, in the Archdiocese of Chicago. St. Mary Star of the Sea School admits students of any race, color, sex, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students in this school.
ADMISSION AGE
In compliance with state law, the following age limitations have been set for admission to St. Mary Star of the Sea School.

Students entering Pre-School must be three or four years of age or older on or before September 1st of the current school year.

Students entering Kindergarten must be five years of age or older on or before September 1st of the current school year.

Students entering First Grade must be six years of age or older on or before September 1st of the current school year.
St. Mary Star of the Sea School does not screen under-aged students to determine whether or not they are ready for Pre-School or Kindergarten.

UNIFORMS
Students in Grades K-8 wear uniforms from the first to the last day of school.
Currently our School Uniforms consist of the following:
BOYS (Grade K-4): Blue, knit shirt and navy blue twill slacks
BOYS (Grade 5-8): White, knit shirt and navy blue twill slacks
GIRLS (Grades K-4): Blue plaid, all-around-pleated jumper and white, knit shirt
GIRLS (Grades 5-8): Blue plaid box-pleated skirt, white knit shirt, and navy blue weskit.
